Missed the first episode of The GIG Series? Don’t worry. Here are some of the highlights. Want to watch the whole thing? Click here. We teamed up with Trusted Herd to kick off our first live panel discussion to share knowledge from different sides of the industry. The panel included a few of the top professionals within the staffing industry: Joey Kercher, Founder of Air Fresh Marketing, Allie Avila, Founder of Allie Katz Promotions and Hedy Popson, President of Productions Plus.
Each speaker had the opportunity to answer three questions curated by our moderator/Senegal Software CEO John Franco and Brian Fox of Trusted Herd. Here are a few key takeaways:
1. Joey Kercher reflects on the need for transparency in the staffing world, when setting expectations for their clients.
“Working with humans is not the easiest thing in the world. I say this, but sometimes I wish we could have a little more control on the people that we hire. We can't. And it's really being able to be upfront and transparent with a client. Like, "There's going to be issues. How can we overcome these issues?" upfront. And understanding the percentages of people not showing up or having a bad day and having a backup plan. We really try to be that full partner when we work with the clients.”
2. Allie Avila covers the basics of her onboarding process per project/brand to personalize her company and talent’s approach to selling the product.
“The way that we make sure they're well versed, we do a couple different things. I have a booklet that I made that's how to conduct a promotion, and it goes from what they should do before it to what they should do after it, and everything in between. This is just a guideline of what they should do. I also send them pictures. Now, I definitely believe in the client relationship with the ambassadors because that person is promoting them, and that person is representing them, as well as myself. We do Skype calls a lot of times. We also get on video conferences, anything like that. I let the client reach out to a lot of the ambassadors via email. I don't give out phone numbers necessarily, but reach out via email with topics, anything like that that can help, like a PDF. Anything that can help sell the product.”
3. Hedy Popson shares her take on establishing longevity with her clients to stay competitive.
“We talk about client relationships, and we worked with a lot of our clients for 10, 20, and 30 years, and we build that client relationship based on trust. So, client relationships come from trust. Trust comes from client relationships. And all of that gets kind of coupled with the whole pricing piece. Because we're not the lowest priced agency out on the marketplace by any means, and we're not the highest. We're very, very competitive.
4. John Franco closes the discussion with a sneak peek of who will be speaking at the next GIG Series panel.
“I want to invite you to Episode 2 GIG Series. We have three new panelists that are going to bring phenomenal ideas to help you grow your business faster. It's going to be October 24th, at 3pm EST.
