Neal Tompkins

Neal Tompkins is the former Cofounder and President of T/R Systems, a bootstrapped technology company that began as an engineering services firm, while independently exploring new cutting edge ideas in color printer technology.  T/R was instrumental in designing one of the first desktop color laser printers in the world and later licensed their designs and patents to a product manufacturer.  This allowed T/R to pivot its core business to a patented digital front end for document management and production. With VC funding T/R grew rapidly and had a successful IPO on the NASDAQ exchange.  After several years of innovation and sustained growth the company was successfully acquired.  At his core, Neal is a technologist and entrepreneur with a career that has spanned over 40 years.  In his early career, Neal was a scientist for several large companies in Research & Development where he pioneered laser applications, image processing, data storage, video conferencing, networking, and laser printing.  He later joined a start-up to lead the development of a color copier and LED color printer technology which led to his founding of T/R Systems.

Neal holds over 30 patents and has a BS in Physics from the University of Massachusetts and MS in Physics from the Florida Institute of Technology, and an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan.  Now retired, Neal is active in pursuing his interest in machine learning applied to behavioral finance, and introducing his grandchildren to the joys of science, technology, and entrepreneurship.
